Horses and English Lessons

This morning the boys watched a show on Discovery Kids where a man made horses using newspaper, staples and paint. The basic concept - draw a horse on paper, make sure there are two sheets and then cut it out. Staple the two sheets together but leave an opening. Fill the opening with crumpled paper and then add a piece to the back so the horse can hang on something. Jeison and Johnnatan said they wanted to make the horse. So, Larry took them to the store for supplies. Juan and I stayed behind because it was raining. The boys did everything themselves except for a little help with attaching the back piece for hanging.

We decided to begin English tutoring for the boys. The tutor will come two hours a day. So far it seems to be going well and they are eager to learn. Sometimes situations are more difficult because we cannot understand what they are asking or need to explain something but we do not know the words. So, we have to take out the computer and use a translator online. It is great that Jeison can read because some explanations are long.
So, another day is almost gone and we are thankful that the days seem to pass quickly.

  3. What creative boys you have! Glad things are going well and time seems to be going fast. They will learn English, but it does take time. The tutor is a great idea and something to help fill the time while you wait.

  5. What a fun family project!
I met with the kids in Sonlight City yesterday and talked about teaching them some Spanish to help welcome the boys. I lost count of how many hands shot up to ask me how to say X, Y or Z in Spanish. They were so enthusiastic!
    Love to you all!
